Veterans Choice Program Extended, OHI Coordination Revised
Wednesday, June 21, 2017
On April 19, 2017, the president signed Public Law 115-26 into law, which extends the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Veterans Choice Program (VCP) past the original sunset date of August 7, 2017. Veterans will continue to seek care through community providers under VCP while government funding remains available.
Public 115-26 also revised the OHI coordination process for VCP to make VA the primary coordinator of benefits for services received on or after April 20, 2017. As such, community providers are no longer required to bill OHI carriers or collect OHI copayments from veterans receiving care through VCP. VA will continue to bill veterans directly for any applicable VCP copayments and will subsequently engage veteran OHI after completing its payment process as required by law.
As the current VCP contractor in Regions 1, 2 and 4, Health Net Federal Services, LLC is proud to partner with VA and community providers to help ensure those who have served our nation receive care in an efficient and effective manner.
